What Do We Do on Sunday Morning?

The Episcopal Church follows a three year cycle of readings from The Revised Common Lectionary and a form of worship from The Book of Common Prayer. The word “common” in these titles means that we understand ourselves to be part of a larger Body that is reading the same lessons and praying the same prayers. We are worshipping at St. Anne’s in Fremont, but we are worshipping with the entire Church. Our liturgy is participatory; the people are meant to be an active congregation rather than an audience. The people of St. Anne’s participate as Readers, Ushers, Acolytes, Intercessors, and Eucharistic Ministers.

Every Sunday morning at 10:00, we come together to celebrate the sacrament of Holy Eucharist. In this ritual of receiving, blessing, breaking and sharing we understand ourselves to be the Body of Christ. The remembering connects us through time and space to Christ and to countless others who have said these prayers and shared this meal. Through the Eucharist, we are strengthened, healed, connected and renewed to go out and do the work God has given each of us to do.

Before the service each week, beginning at 9:15, we have Christian Education for children of all ages. At the same time, we frequently have Adult Forums (on a variety of topics, sometimes with guest speakers). Babysitting is provided in our nursery. If you are a visitor or a newcomer to St. Anne’s, please stay for the coffee hour after the service. We would love to get to know you and are eager to answer your questions about St. Anne’s.
